The Great Gatsby The Movie Review

The Great Gatsby The Movie Review

Last Night I finished watching this movie and it left me feeling like the writers left something out!  I was actually very excited about watching it as I had heard all sorts of deconstructed versions of the book and The phrase “The past becomes the future and the future becomes the past” , But they dumbed in down to:  ”You can’t live in the past.” To which Gatsby, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, replied, “Yes you Can.” That’s it?

Now I know they did play up that green light across the bay being a manifestation of their lost love, or something like that, but I was really very disappointed by the lack of time travel imagery except in the beginning and end of the movie.   I’ll let you take a look at the trailer, it was still a good movie, with brilliant actors, I just did not think they did the book justice, or at least the cliff notes comments on the Internet version.  Guess I’ll have to read the Book.

Oh well, done ranting.  I’d like to thank YouTube and TheHollybird for this trailer

It wouldn;t be fair for me not to applaud the other remarkable actors and actresses straight from the movies of yesteryear, or at least that is how they made you feel, like I was 13 again watching all the old stars on Saturday afternoon, when I used to watch old movies in Black and White.  This was of course before cable TV.  If you can believe that!  I’d like to thank Clevermovies for this list:

Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Isla Fisher, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, Callan McAuliffe, Gemma Ward, Amitabh Bachchan, Jason Clarke

Brilliant acting!  Brilliant Acting!
